People love new. We love the excitement that comes with a fresh start. We crave the potential it promises. This is why companies are so eager to introduce new programs and ways of doing things. They bring a sense of hope.
Until they don’t.
Starting is the easy part. Following through is the hard part. And when we don’t follow through, when we are quick to abandon one project in favour of a newer one, we start to lose trust and people become disenchanted.
The starting line may be exciting, but we need to cross the finish line for it to be worthwhile.
